A Night With The Chapmans - Kings Park International Church, Durham, NC - October 14, 2010 - Part II

I will be adding information and comments as I enter photographs to the page. First, I would like to say that all pictures were taken by either my husband, Richard, or by myself. They were taken during the concert without the use of flash. These images belong to us and cannot be used, altered or have the watermark image removed without our expressed permission. They have been reduced for your viewing pleasure, and if you would like to use them (with proper credits) on other websites or media, please contact me and I can send you a larger, more detailed image.

Second, I would like to thank the Chapman family, Geoff Moore, the band members for Caleb and Steven Curtis Chapman, the crew and managers - it was a wonderful evening. I was excited to have a hand in helping out and am truly touched and inspired by the Chapman family. Once again, I have some persoanl notes to write with the smallest hope that maybe a Chapman family member or crew member will read them...

Steven - The very first Christian Contempary song that I heard was at Camp Albemarle, in Newport, NC. It was the summer of 1990 and I believe I was just beginning my 8th grade year. That song was "More to This Life" - not unlike today, I was dealing with some very serious and tough issues in my life. That song touched me to the soul and to this day remains one of my personal anthems, that no matter what happens there is always "more to this life". I was surprised that is was one of the songs that made your setlist in Durham, and I have to say, it is very hard to focus a camera when your eyes are filled with tears. It is amazing how many songs of yours have punctuated my life. "I Will Be Here" was an obvious choice of mine for my wedding ceremony. To this day and even more so at the concert the other eveing, it amazes me how your music can break my heart one moment and then moments later remind me that there is someone greater than me, greater than everyone in the room, greater than any preformer on the stage that  we should be cheering and clapping for, our beloved Father in Heaven and his Blesses Son, Jesus Christ. Thank you for sharing "Beauty Will Rise". I believe the work you and Mary Beth have started is just the beginning of Maria's legacy here on earth. God truly has done great works through her and her loving family. Thank you for having the courage to share your talent, the strength to praise Him even when the darkest valleys seem to consume us. And thank you for taking a moment to sign the Cinderella book - it was a surprise gift to my daughter who just turned 13 and she fell over that you did that.

Mary Beth - I don't even know where to begin. I have just finished my first read through on "Choosing it SEE". Which by the way is very difficult to do through tears. As I just mentioned above, I believe in my heart that the works God has done through you and Maria are just starting. Your book goes beyond the story of your family, faith and journey. It is going to reach out to so many! Not just families who have lost a beloved child, but to those who have always lived with a faith in Christ, but have had Satan looking for a crack in their foundation. I too, suffer from depression and have found that through a mixture of what my children call "happy pills", prayer and journalling that I have been able to cope so much better with some pretty tough situations - nowhere close to the pain that your family has endured, but rough enough that I have questioned my ability to remain faithful at times. I started to read your book expecting to find a woman whose faith was a rock and whose life was charmed. I am sorry for that because I did not expect to find someone who understands what that overbearing weight feels like, and does not like the fact that your plans never reallys seem to work right. Of course, this is mostly because we forget that we are a part of the Father's plan. Like so many women of faith before you; your journey is just beginning. God Bless you. God Bless your family. Thank you for speaking to us and thank you for signing my book ... from now on I WILL CHOOSE TO SEE!

PS - I passes yet another picture on to Will Franklin at the concert ... just another reminder of Steven's mullet days. Emily was with him and I am not sure how old she was at the time. It was take in Charlotte, NC  in November 1994 at a "Heaven in the Real World" concert.
